The Riders are officially the worst team in the CFL after last night's loss in Toronto to the equally bad Argos who now have twice as many wins as the Green and White. Sure the Lions still only have one victory but their victory was over us, so yeah....worst team in the CFL. Am I still a huge fan? Yes. Am I still going to be at every home game this season? Yes. Am I frustrated? Damn right. Here I go:
Doug Berry needs to be looking for work soon. A shotgun formation on a third and one running play? Simple math tells you that call put us into a situation that Brandon West needed to carry the ball a minimum of six yards to earn a first down. Let's make things six times harder than they need to be. I know Ken Miller is all about loyalty and he did bring Berry in to run the offence a few years ago, but I am sorry Ken, throw loyalty out the window and tell Berry his services are no longer needed. You have two weeks until Labour Day so let's make this change now and give your new OC and Darian time to get on the same page. Oh, and last night was just more proof that when Darian is allowed to use his legs, he is a much more dangerous QB.
Greg Marshall looks and sounds like a defeated man. He has no idea what to do to turn this ship around, and he has stated that publicly. Again, I know Miller was in love with his hiring of Marshall BUT let's face it, he is not a Head Coach; a great coordinator but that doesn't always translate to success as a HC. Mr. Miller, in my opinion, you need to let Marshall go now, and return to the sidelines. This team is NOT playing for Marhsall and we know that they will play for you. We are 1 - 7 but at worst one game out of the play - off's after this week; the season is not a total loss yet. Failure to make changes in the near future will in my opinion bring an early end to a disappointing season thus far.
That's all I have to say. The players are what they are, and sure they haven't made plays when necessary. However, at the end of the day the biggest weakness on this team right now are the men on the sidelines who are being good money to call the right plays and instill a desire in the players ot go out there and give 110% each and every down. Right now that isn't happening.
