Friday's Thoughts

So Taylor Hall had his first, and hopefully last career Gordie Howe hat trick last night. What is most embarrassing about this is not only did he look like a kid getting thrown around by his older brother over the last pork chop, but he is now lost for the remainder of the season with a high ankle sprain. Kid, what the hell were you thinking???

Speaking of Gordie Howe hat tricks, did you know that former Red Wing Brendan Shanahan had 14 in his career! Now that Mr. Hall is something that impresses me; you....not so much.

The NFL and the Player's Association have agreed upon a one week extension to reach a new CBA. It is quite possible to assume that this means progress is being made and the chance of saving the season is at its all time highest. Staying with the NFL, it has been reported that former Rider Andy Fantuz received a $10,000 signing bonus when he reached his deal with the Bears last month. Some might say it isn't worth it to take a 'shot' at a league he may very well not make it in. To those nay - sayers, it ain't about the money, it is about pursuing your dreams. And in the event that he does crack the Bear's roster he will make a whole lot more than he would have in the CFL.

As I sit here watching the Senators and Rangers on TSN, Pierre McGuire, who for the record is a loud mouth who is taken best with a stiff shot and a solid mute button, is talking about how Sean Avery of the Rangers is doing his best to get under the skin of the Sen's Chris Neil. Apparently, Avery was quick to remind Neil that he was available to any team who wanted him at the deadline and the Senators still couldn't get rid of him. While I do hope that Neil grabs him and knocks his teeth in, I must admit that's good TV. Just for one night, I would like to be a fly on the glass between the benches and listen to some of the trash talk that takes place in the course of a game.

Not much else to say tonight....quiet night I suppose. Until tomorrow......
